Pandora – Opening
Alma Rajala & Tehdas Teatteri
"Welcome to the feast of the gods, where the gods are gone. And none of us should be here either…"
A feast forsaken by the gods, a forbidden after-party in a hidden room. A small group of twenty spectators are invited.
The ritual of objects and sounds begins, and the myth of Pandora unfolds in many surprising ways.
The performance takes the audience through images and reflections of both the figure of Pandora and the moment of the opening of the box. The myth of Pandora’s box often gets used as a symbolic explanation for a world in crisis, but does it have more explanatory value than the idea that some woman was once curious?
Alma Rajala's solo work operates in the areas of object theatre, puppet theatre and physical theatre, creating a kaleidoscope of visions. The magical qualities of objects create dreamlike moments and chains of images. Their amplified sounds conjure up a surreal soundscape.
The weird party continues, even after Pandora's box is opened.
