THE LAST OF THE SOVIETS 3D

Helsinki 98

How will theatre be consumed in the future? You can come find out in Tampere Theatre Festival’s OFF Tampere, where a 3D recording of the Last of the Soviets will be shown through VR goggles.

The world is constantly digitalizing – and the Finnish theatre field will have to adapt to the change instead of getting caught in the past.

Theatre must be accessible everywhere in Finland – cities, libraries, towns, barns, the couch in your living room, or the roof of an apartment building. Virtual technology doesn’t change the way theatre is made, but it could increase its accessibility in the future.

The performance showcases the world view into which the current Russian government has grown. The show’s purpose is to introduce the audience to the works of Svetlana Alexievich, and to increase the audience’s understanding of Russia.

Helsinki 98 is a new theatre group which studies the question: ”What can art be after 24th of February 2022?” That is the day when Russia started their attack on Ukraine.
