Outside the box
Pirkanmaan Tanssin Keskus
Welcome to the sandbox! Or wait — the stage, actually!
In this playful performance, dancers turn the everyday into something exciting as energetic movement takes over the playground and boxes spin through the air. Thinking Outside the Box invites young audiences to dance along to rules and restrictions. There's wrestling and obeying — until we don't obey at all! What happens when dancers start bending square-shaped commands? Which rules end up in the trash, and who gets to decide?
Thinking Outside the Box brings children’s experiences of willpower, following limits, and breaking them into the spotlight in a fun and relatable way. Aimed at preschool-aged children, this participatory performance offers an accessible encounter with dance art and sparks thoughts about fairness. When do rules help us? When do they hold us back? The piece encourages independent thinking — and taking action, even when it means doing things differently from others.
The future needs brave and fair visionaries — the kind who can think outside the box!
