Exit Pieces

Iggy Malmborg

Conceived, written and directed by Iggy Malmborg

Iggy Malmborg won the hearts of audiences and critics at the 2024 Tampere Theatre Festival with his humor and style. Now he's back with a brand-new work, accompanied by Mia Höglund-Melin and Jesper Söderblom from the ensemble of Gothenburg City Theatre.

Exit Pieces is 100% pure Malmborg – a philosophical yet not deadly serious autopsy on theatre performed with a gentle grin. This time the focus is on endings, exits, and flight.

Here the topic of endings is read through the history of theatre and its progress of aesthetic style, realizing that we might have reached terminus of deconstruction. Exit Pieces responds to this with a rather hysteric gesture; instead of expanding the theatre further, an implosion begins. The fourth wall is erected, the performers face each other as actors and relations appear.

With intense and stimulating interaction Malmborg sweeps you away, off into the wilderness and wonder, to see new theatrical landscapes forming – or stagnating, in a never ending lament from the undead.
