Songs of Home
Väki
Choir director: Petra Poutanen
Directed by Antti Haikkala
A statement-making choir concert under the Ratina Bridge.
Helmed by musician Petra Poutanen, the Tampere-based Väki choir presents a production about inequality, homelessness, exclusion and the human need for shelter. The subject matter is serious, but the songs are sprinkled with energy and humor.
This unique performance takes place at a skate park underneath the Ratina Bridge. Like an urban cathedral, the setting provides an elevating platform for a one-of-a-kind piece that brings marginalized issues to the forefront in a way that is at once gripping, affecting and lively.
”Touching and impactful. Goosebumps all over.”
