THEY SAY: CLOSE THE BORDERS

An ongoing project that dissects the dark legacy of Finnish fascism.
They Say: Close the Borders digs into historical records, research materials and the roots of Finnish culture to see what makes this nation so prone to far-right, authoritarian and fascist worldviews.
Combining performing and media arts, and the efforts of four actors, an opera singer, a director and a research team from the University of Turku, this series of performances will develop into a unified work of art, a coming together of sound, light, movement and acting.
The Tampere Theatre Festival presentation is a burst-like product of a short rehearsal period. There will also be a panel discussion led by the research team.
