A Disturbance in the Landscape

Kotkan kaupunginteatteri

Adapted for the stage by Inke Dahl
Dramatized by Inke Dahl, Pirjo Lankinen and Annukka Ruuskanen
Directed by Inke Dahl

A captivating and intimate monologue about love, deception, and vulnerability – and about remembering and writing.

Pirjo Lankinen delivers a virtuoso performance as a woman who begins to write a story, driven by a burning need to understand past actions, choices, and the reasons behind them. As memories intertwine with fantasies, the story turns into a book.

Acknowledging the unique voice of Raija Siekkinen (1953–2004), this stage adaptation honors the acclaimed author’s diction as well as her novel’s pacing and layered chronology.

Petteri Pietiäinen, who celebrates his 40th career anniversary, was nominated for four Säde Awards for his tremendous work on the production’s lighting, sound, video, and stage design.

”A Disturbance in the Landscape is a gem.”
