Birdboy
Emma Martin / United Fall
Choreographed and directed by Emma Martin
A celebration of all outcasts and weirdos!
Burrowing inside the inner world of a misfit kid and using the metaphor of a bird as the symbol of freedom, Birdboy takes you on a wild and beautiful journey through fear, isolation, fantasy and letting go. Join the ride as dancer-performer Kévin Coquelard shares the stage with a rusty old Volkswagen and a bunch of ghostly balloons and otherworldly creatures.
Choreographer Emma Martin creates multidisciplinary works where friction turns into electricity at the intersection of sweat and sophistication, where high art meets pop culture, and order and chaos rub elbows. Emma made Birdboy for her daughter. It’s a story all of us can relate to – a story of growing, finding your path and accepting yourself.
Combining dance, sound and objects, Birdboy is suitable for both young and adult audiences. Age recommendation: 8+.
”By turns funny and moving, and always sympathetic, this is a highly original piece.”
