Thank you for an amazing Festival 2026!

We want to thank you for an amazing Tampere Theatre Festival 2026 – thank you to the audience, the performers, the staff at the venues, the volunteers, the drivers, technicians and the road crew, the supporters and partners. There would be no festival without you!

Last week the festival gathered an estimated almost 56,000 visitors. This number includes all the programmes and events that took place during the week.

The performances of the Main Programme gathered nearly 7,600 audience members. Overall there were 31 shows and with an excellent 89,6 percent of the audience capacity reached. The most watched performances were Estonian Drama Theatre’s Business as Usual, Lahden kaupunginteatteri’s Jailhouse Rock, Rovaniemen teatteri’s and Piste Kollektiivi’s Alma of Vesisaari, The National Theatre’s The Day of Remembrance and the Helsinki University of Arts’ Three Sisters.

The Main Programme also offered free street performances: Circus Simon’s TO THE CIRCUS! and Sara Twister’s Ready.Aim.Fire!. These performances garnered a joint audience of about a thousand people.

The TLab Programme was visited by about 1,400 audience members. Ten performances took place at G Livelab during the week. The sold-out performances were Loveletters featuring Seela Sella and Esko Roine, Once I Dreamed of the Summer also featuring Seela Sella and Timo Tuominen’s Rendez-vous avec Brel.

The fringe programme, OFF Tampere, featured 40 productions and there were a total of over 90 performances. The programme included amateur theatres, multiple Pirkanmaa area summer theatres, the outdoor concert organized by Tampere’s Philharmonic and Tampere Hall as well as visiting ensembles from all over Finland. The versatile programme gathered a combined 22,000 visitors.

The Nocturnal Happening took place on the 6th of August. Multiple events took over the streets, cafés, galleries and parks of Tampere. The Nocturnal Happening was visited by about 22,700 visitors.

The festival week also included the opening ceremony, seminars, panel discussions and interviews with artists.

The next Tampere Theatre Festival will take place 2.–8.8.2027 – we hope to see you then!
