Tampere Theatre Festival Announces Its Brand New Main Programme

7.5.2024

Festival's Main Programme 2024 includes 19 fascinating productions that will once again bring us together to experience art and theatre. In August we will see Finnish Theatre from Helsinki, Kajaani, Jyväskylä, Kotka and Turku, among others. The International Programme includes five performances.

Portuguese actor-director-playwright Tiago Rodrigues is one of Europe’s leading theatremakers and the current artistic director of the world-renowned Festival d’Avignon. His direction Catarina and the Beauty of Killing Fascists, produced by the Festival d’Avignon & Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, contemplates our responsibility for the future of democracy, as individuals and as a society. Is violence an option when we fight for a better tomorrow, asks the play.

Swedish Cirkus Cirkör unleash a spectacle of thrills at the 2024 Tampere Theatre Festival. Tipping Point – Balancing in a Time of Change deals with the framework that holds our societies and democracy together. It is also a showcase for next-generation circus talents – with some Finnish flavor included!

This year we will also have more guests from Sweden: SATAN is a playfully autobiographical solo piece by actor-director Iggy Malmborg.

Brussels-based artists Silke Huysmans and Hannes Dereere’s methods resemble those of journalists and documentarists. Out of the Blue is both a love letter to the underwater world and an analytical case study.

Tom de Ronde and Nick Deroo are a Dutch mime duo whose highly original aesthetic approach is influenced by the traditions of both physical theatre and mime, as well as pop culture, pop music and a shared love of cinematic theatre. In Tampere they will play a surreal physical theatre piece about being in limbo, Transit.
