Voces – Intimate Voices

A meeting of the masters of theatre and classical music!
Staging a concert for two clowns and a string quartet, Voces – Intimate Voices takes an affectionate and amused look at death and the fears relating to it.
The performance builds around Jean Sibelius’s best-known chamber piece, the String Quartet in D Minor, Voces intimae. During its composition Sibelius was diagnosed with a throat tumor, which heavily influenced his work.
Voces features works by composers ranging from Beethoven to Kaija Saariaho, Arvo Pärt, and Max Richter.
This co-creation merges the talents of the ingenious Red Nose Company actor duo Timo Ruuskanen & Tuukka Vasama and two of Finland’s top string quartets, Kamus and Meta4. At Tampere Theatre Festival Voces – Intimate Voices will be performed by Ruuskanen & Vasama and Meta4’s Antti Tikkanen, Minna Pensola, Atte Kilpeläinen and Tomas Djupsjöbacka.
”Tuukka Vasama and Timo Ruuskanen are masters at balancing seriousness and jocularity.”
