Messages of Tampere – Walking Tour
Discover the urban history of Tampere! How did the postal service, the railway, radio, and telephones arrive in Tampere, and how did they shape the city's growth and everyday life?
On this guided walking tour by the Postal Museum, you'll explore Tampere's history through the lens of communication and technological innovation. Nearly 250 years old, Tampere has long been a hub of communication and networks. The largest inland city in the Nordic countries grew through the development of industry and communication.
You are welcome to take photos with your own phone during the tour. Taking photos is entirely optional. Images may be shared on the Postal Museum's social media channels. You can also tag your own photos with #viestientampere, and we may share them.
