Opening Ceremony

Tampere Theatre Festival is traditionally opened with programme samples and celebratory speeches!

WELCOMING WORDS
Host of the Opening Ceremony, actress Elisa Piispanen.

CIRCUS SIMON
Circus Artist Simon Llewellyn will present a preview of his work, which will be featured in the Main Programme, combining the poetry of Kirsi Kunnas, the music of Silja Palomäki, and skillful circus choreography.

OPENING CEREMONY SPEECH
Mika Myllyaho, director of the Finnish National Theatre, playwright and director.

THE RIVER
Actress Ella Mettänen performs an excerpt from the Main Programme The River.

KIITOS KOTIMAISESTA NÄYTELMÄSTÄ AWARD (Recognition award for a domestic play) & ORIGO AWARD (Nuoren näytelmäkirjailijan Origo-palkinto)
Awards will be presented by Writers Guild of Finland.

MASTERPIECE ORCHESTRA
The event will be closed by a tribute band that will perform songs by Stevie Wonder, featuring Antti Kleemola and Emma Balbatsu as vocalists.
