Vyöry
Tanssiteatteri MD
"What does a smile sound like? What would you include in a time capsule for future generations? - The smell of soil. Wedding dance steps. Things with wings and tails. Earthworms and beetles. A child’s grin at a parent, and that special glow when somebody smiles."
Teosto Prize-winning composer Minna Leinonen’s Vyöry for accordion and string orchestra reflects the stormy social situation of the year of its composition, 2021. Choreographer Samuli Roininen's Vyöry for Tanssiteatteri MD's dancers is a unique performance draft of the work Virne, which will premiere in November 2025. Vyöry will be seen in Kutomosali 3 in conjunction with the exhibition by photographer artist Jaakko Heikkilä. Combining movement and music with the vivid drawings of visual artist Petri Seppä, Vyöry turns the Finlayson Art Area gallery into a living and breathing universe of rhythms.
Starting at 4:45 PM on Väinölinna Square the dancers will lead the audience to the 3th floor from among Kerttu Horila's figure sculptures towards Heikkilä's exhibition space at Kutomosali 3.
