La Strada Finora – Our Journey So Far

Teatteri La Strada

The La Strada Theatre (until 2024, Kehitysvammaisteatteri La Strada) was founded in 2009 with the aim of promoting inclusion and equality for people with developmental disabilities. The theatre community offers its actors the opportunity to develop and grow their own artistry, and its audience touching experiences across the full spectrum of theatre and music.

La Strada Finora – Our Journey So Far, brings together, in a montage-like manner, scenes loved by the team and the audience, snapshots from previous productions, along a sixteen-year journey. Characters taking to the stage include Randle Patrick McMurphy (Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) and Titania the Fairy Queen (William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream) from the beloved classics, as well as Poncia (Federico Garcia Lorca's Bernarda Alba's House), not not forgetting the excellent Rummukainen brothers (Simo "Aapeli" Puupponen's Siunattu hulluus). The performance takes the viewer through La Strada's emotional and musical journey from 2009 to the present day. We are now operating on a sensitive atlas of nostalgia and emotions! With the production La Strada wants to honor the memory of the theater's late artistic director, Anu Panula (1956-2021).

La Strada's actors Mari Heinilä, Kalle Bister, Markus Pieniluoma, Niko Pohja, Titta Sillman, Markus Malmi and Leevi Paalanen have written the script together with executive director/director Miina Joseppiina Kahiluoto-Mutila. The actors' own wishes, their own voices, each one's individual and charismatic expressive power rise to the center of the performance: WE are Teatteri La Strada!
