Crime Scene Tampere – Why Do These Places End Up in Crime Novels?

What kind of place ends up in a crime novel—and why that particular one? At the Crime Scene Tampere event, author Anna Paldar interviews crime writers from the Pirkanmaa region about their published novels set in Tampere.

Before the event, the authors have selected three to five locations from their books that are especially meaningful to them. The discussion will explore what these places are like, which events in the stories take place there, and why the authors chose them. Is it the atmosphere, the history, the scenery—or something else entirely?

The participating authors are Päivi Alasalmi, Antti Vihinen, and Anna Harju. The discussion offers a fascinating glimpse into how a real city becomes the setting for crime fiction.

The evening may also inspire a completely new way to explore Tampere: you can create your own crime novel-themed walking route through the city's streets and hidden corners based on the authors' selections.
