AntiG – a tragic wrestling poem for a female body
Työryhmä & Teatteri Takomo
Dramatized and directed by Pauliina Hulkko
Antigone, performed by the sensational Hanna Raiskinmäki, steps in the ring to face her destiny.
A unique take on the Sophocles tragedy, AntiG immerses Antigone’s struggle in pro wrestling aesthetics, philosophical poetry and riveting soundscapes. The play shows us the hubris of a woman pushed to the absolute limit.
All heart, body and soul, Raiskinmäki’s breathtaking performance is accompanied by Onni Pirkola’s one-man choir and Sami Nieminen’s rootsy Hammond organ.
An ancient myth holds a mirror to our time of reverse progress and increasing misogyny. How are we going to survive all this without breaking our hearts and losing our minds?
”If this isn’t five-star acting, then I guess God’s work isn’t worth five stars.”
