Arboretum – Plant Series II

What kinds of sounds do plants make when touched, illuminated and sprayed with water?

Arboretum – Plant Series II is an audiovisual essay on the sensory world of plants. The audio is provided by Fern Orchestra, who use plants as their instruments. The plants are equipped with sensors that collect data which is transformed into audio. The Arboretum brings this data to life by turning the plants’ senses into a performance. This piece brings together the plants and the kinesthetic intelligence of the dancer.

The Arboretum is a bubble-shaped pergola that the audience may explore both inside and outside for as long as they wish. After the performance (approx. 80 min), the audience has the opportunity to play the plants.
