The Death of the Actor
THE VAARA COLLECTIVE
The Death of the Actor examines the effects of early relationships on a person’s life. How do we accept the hidden inclinations in ourselves and in people who are close to us?
What is left unsaid when we talk about theatre? The play digs into the unconscious motivations, shame and narcissistic needs behind acting and performing.
The makers use their own backgrounds to explore the psychology of a performance and the interaction between an actor and a spectator. What happens in our brain and body when we see and experience a theatre production? How does an actor experience an audience?
During the creative process the team found out that the more seriously they got into the material, the more comical aspects started to emerge.
