Jurkka Theatre dusts off a classic with Nora, an offshoot of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House dealing with the settings, roles and boundaries that cannot hold a woman down. This spin-off, directed by Alma Lehmuskallio and starring Rosanna Kemppi and Kreeta Salminen as the two Noras, juxtaposes the present day and Ibsen’s world as it ponders femininity, motherhood and what it means to be an actress in Finland today, avoiding a clear-cut distinction between pain and laughter.
”Splitting a character in two breathes an air of harmony into the performances. Both Noras are in full swing, getting the best out of their emotional and comedic resources.”
