Samira Elagoz (Finland & Holland)

Cock, Cock, Who's There?

Filmmaker and performance artist Samira Elagoz examines the full spectrum of male–female relations from intimacy to brutality.

Cock, Cock.. Who’s There? is an award-winning portrayal of the reconstruction of a sexual identity after being raped. It is a finely crafted and even humorous account of the impact of a traumatic experience on Elagoz’s new and past relationships with people and its influence on her art.

Integrating documentary video footage into a stage performance, the production deals with lust, feminine power and being subjected to the male gaze in a world where actual reality and virtual reality have become inseparable.

Finnish-Egyptian Elagoz was awarded the 2017 Prix Jardin d’Europe prize for Cock, Cock.. Who’s There? as the year’s best young choreographer. She lives in Amsterdam.
