Traces of Hooping performance

Hoop Artist Henna Matanuska and the Transistorit

Traces of Hooping is a performance based on improvisation and involving the audience, created by the hoop artist Henna Matanuska, which examines what kind of trace is left by authentic movement or what kind of movement is created when you want to leave a certain kind of trace. Charcoal, dry pastels, hula hoops and a dancer and a round white platform function as materials. It is a dialogue between the performers and the audience. The audience initially makes proposals for movement, drawing and using their own creativity, and the dancer interprets them in their own way, with hoops and receiving impulses from the musicians. During the performance, the audience can follow the emergence of traces from different angles, moving around in the space. In the end, the large round platform is full of movement, in the form of traces.

Music: Transistors.
