Turku City Theatre

Directed and choreographed by Jakob Höglund

One of the most beloved musicals of all time hits the stage in this phenomenal update by innovative director Jakob Höglund and his wonderful ensemble.

Berlin, 1931. Writer Clifford Bradshaw, a sleepwalker lost in life, meets cabaret star Sally Bowles at the Kit Kat Klub. It’s a place where everyone gets to be whatever and whoever they want to be. Just a POP! from a Sekt bottle and a beat to dance to, and you’re off, ready for anything like there’s no tomorrow.

For a while, it’s all fun and games, but soon there’s a new war on the doorstep.Time to wake up and make a choice.

”Blows away the dusty curtains and shines a light on a vintage piece to present an all-out show that is bright, intelligent, entertaining, moving, stimulating – and sexy, in every sense of the word.”
Irmeli Haapanen, Turun Sanomat newspaper

”All your needs for entertainment are most definitely satisfied. Cabaret inescapably brings back escapism. The drive, cadence and rigor of this troupe will take your breath away.”
– Festival Artistic Team

Cabaret blends a great story and a great show. For me, the most gripping element of it is how people refuse to see how the world takes a sharp turn right in front of their eyes. Just like today – no reaction, not even when we clearly see what’s coming. On the other hand, I just love the spectacle, the extravagant, fun-loving pizzazz and oomph –and there’s gonna be a lot of it!”
