A Little Money
Tampereen Työväen Teatteri
Written and directed by Sirkku Peltola

The mother is getting old and has bad feet; the son is in his fifties and could in strict medical terms be described as ‘with limited intelligence’. Together they live in the backwoods and take care of each other, holding on tight to their familiar and comforting routines. One Tuesday everything changes. Jason bumps into new people while running errands in town.

Sirkku Peltola; a skillful and emphatic describer of the course of human life, is also a brilliant plot-twister. “The theatre-goer is sitting on pins and needles fearing for the survival of the modest idyll”, Anneli Kanto remarks in the Teatterilehti.

Subtly perceptive acting work portrays the broken, defenceless characters gently and with deep empathy. Aimo Räsänen’s Jason is constructed with masterfully subtle, muted gestures to be a whole, valuable person with dignity.
