Off Tampere offers a great deal of energetic and passionate theatre art performances

Off Tampere is a fringe programme for any professional and amateur artist and group who wish to perform in Tampere Theatre Festival at their own expense.

This year we have exceptionally many performances. Altogether 99 performances, 39 productions by 32 groups. The Off plays, performances and events bring wide, versatile and fresh repertoire to the Festival, which spreads around Tampere city and its neighbouring area.

You are able to enjoy Off Tampere's passionate performances every single day of the festival 2.-8.8.2010; stand up, improvisation theatre, circus, dance, music, theatre for children and babies, monologs and traditional open-air theatre etc.

Most of Off Tampere performances are in Finnish but there are some shows which are suitable also for international audience.

Tampere Theatre Festival’s Off Tampere programme has been very popular among international artists and groups this summer. Karstein Solli Produksjoner from Oslo will bring lovely baby theatre performance ReadyMade Baby for 0-3 year-old children on Tuesday. Theatre Dzampano from St Petersburg will charm the Festival audience with a speechless theatre performance The Bronze Horseman. The performance is very visual and is built up with objects, modern dance and music. The last but not least international performance is a Japanese Wadaiko drum show by Ichitaro. This exotic and powerful performance will be shown at restaurant/club Klubi on Thursday.

Also the local groups offer entertainment for the international audience. Jakob’s Circus has a big circus tent in Mustalahti Harbour and will perform their hilarious shows for the whole family from Thursday to Saturday. Off Tampere has many dance theatre performances by Dance Theatre MD. Attuned is new group dance performance which shows an urban way to take over the space. MD Off the Record dance performance consists of four separate and diverse choreographies. Dance Theatre MD hasn’t forgot the children: Peeks to the Dancing Moominvalley - Path to Tampere Art Museum’s Moominvalley is a parade for children on Thursday from Tampere Railway station to Tampere Art Museum’s Moominvalley.

Off Tampere’s 20th anniversary is coming up. This year Off Tampere has been a part of Tampere Theatre Festival for 19 years. That is why Off Tampere got bursary from Finnish Cultural Foundation and Alfreg Kordelin’s Foundation for developing the programme.
